Failed to recognise the fast bowler at the pavilion end. Turned out it was was no other than India’s super fast bowler Ishant Sharma.
Recognised by his lion mane, Ishant was ragged by his team mates before the match at Chinnaswammy stadium and so he decided to have a hair cut just to please them. Ishant is happy if his team friends are happy.
In fact even he needed a change. So what could be the most visible change than getting his hair cut?
The wind resistance through his hair caused the bowler to bowl fast, joked one of his team mates. As per another, it was his ample growth of hair on his head which caused him to drop the vital catch in the Test match against Australia. He certainly has made amends against England.
The After Look: “I’m cool too, Dhoni bhai”
The Before Look: “Yeh hair behut pareshan kar raha hain”
Ishant laughed off the allegations saying that he was wearing a cap when he dropped that catch. Nicknamed Laambu because of his height 6′5′’ Ishant has shown consistent performance.
In 2008 series against Australia he was named the Man Of The Series as he had bagged the maximum number of wickets, 15, becoming the first Indian paceman to win the award on Indian soil. He took Australian captain Ponting’s wicket 3 times during the series and 6 times in as many tests, making the Indian press nickname Ponting as Ishant’s Bunny.
More bunnies may be in store for Ishant, with or without the lion mane.
