Lalit Modi is not bothered about the fact that India missed the IPL here. Being the businessman, he has smelt another business opportunity for the IPL - holding two IPLs, one in India and another abroad.
IPL Chairman and Commissioner, Modi, has spotted a business venture in having two IPL tournaments in a year, to compound an already complicated international cricket calendar that has the ICC pulling its hair out.
Lalit Modi wants the IPL to be held in India but to have a shorter tournament a second time in the year in a country other than India with eyes on the USA after taking the IPL 2 to South Africa in the midst of security concerns in India after clashing with the Lok Sabha elections.
It is likely cause more tensions given that already the Twenty20 tournament has been given greater priority by the players than playing for their own national commitments and it could further divide the cricket world into those that want Test cricket preserved at all costs and those like Chris Gayle who prefer the thriving of the Twenty20 game.
