So Ejaz Butt, the PCB chairman, has informed the public at large. And not surprisingly the blame game is aimed at those who led the Pakistan Cricket Board before.
Butt claims Pakistan lost forty millions dollars because of India’s decision to cancel the tour to Pakistan after Pakistan had already suffered to the tune of more than 1.5 billion rupees (19 million rupees), as the stock reserve in the PCB dropped from 42 million dollars (3.3. billions rupees) in 2006 to just 19 million rupees (1.5 billion) according to him.
He has cited that the financial irregularities and lavish expenditure by way of unreasonable commitments under the former administration led by Naseeem Ashraf before the Pakistan Senate Committee for Sports.
While he insists that India has lost more revenue by not touring Pakistan, Pakistan does not want to take a chance of rejection by Australia a second time in two years and hence, willing to play at neutral venues. The Sri Lankan tour to Pakistan will only raise about 500,00 dollars, he stated.
Meanwhile Pakistan has amended the original itinerary of Sri Lanka’s tour at the insistence of the SLC. But it is clear now that India will be touring Sri Lanka, the changes have been made to help Sri Lanka make the trip home and back.
