After New Zealand’s dramatic win by sixty-four runs in the second ODI, the thoughts of Pakistan repeating their 138 run win from the first ODI in the deciding match of the Cool and Cool Series between Pakistan and New Zealand in Abu Dhabi are not so strong.
Now the tables have turned. New Zealand looked down and out after the first match but the win in the second on the back of a Brendon McCullum century buoyed New Zealand captain, Daniel Vettori, immensely and he felt that the team was up to showing Pakistan their mettle in the final match.
For Pakistan, the win for New Zealand was a shake in their own confidence and they will have to dig deep if they are to avoid an embarrassment. For Pakistan captain, Younis Khan, that mission becomes paramount because he himself is under fire for having underperformed in the one day arena and the supporters and the board will look to him to give Pakistan a rousing win. But for that, he will have to shake off the rusty shackles.
In the final crunch match time, it will all come down to how Pakistan are hurting from the last defeat and how rejuvenated New Zealand feel after the victory.
