Pedro Collins’ agonizing wait to be back in the West Indies squad is finally over and the left-arm pacer has been drafted in the Ramnaresh Sarwan-led side for next month’s Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa.

The bowler, who has been playing in Newcastle, was ecstatic following his return to the side after full one year and he did not hide his joy.
Collins said

I think my recall was long overdue. I was being overlooked and I was wondering why.

I was waiting my turn to play for the West Indies again and now my turn has come. I’m delighted to be back in the team and I have a point to prove.

Southpaw Narsingh Deonarine also made a comeback to the side after a gap of two years. Much to West Indies’ relief, captain Sarwan has fully recuperated from the shoulder injury he had picked up during the England tour.

The Caribbean side would kick off its Twenty20 World Cup campaign against South Africa on September 11.
