These are unconfirmed reports. But apparently the silent tiebreaker saw New Zealand’s Shane Bond but more importantly, West Indies’ Kieron Pollard, make millions, surpassing the previous successful bids.
Eyebrows were raised when England’s Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen were sold for 1.5 million dollars each. Now it appears that the two players who saw tied bids apparently make millions by the new deal.
Take it in dollars or in Indian rupees, but the figures being floated are on small by any stretch of the imagination. Earlier reports suggested that Pollard stood to make about $2.75 million having signed for the Mumbai Indians while Bond would make $1.2 million. Those are, of course, the numbers of the final bid, the surplus of which will go into the IPL tournament kitty itself.
Other reports have the Indian figures conjectured at Rs.12.5 crores for Pollard and pegged Bond at Rs.6 crore.
These numbers await confirmation even though at the outset, they have been reported at their maximum bid price of $750,000.
