Ponting, a Teapot?
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Dec 23 2008

With South Africa pulling one over Australia and winning the amazing Test at Perth, the claws are once again out and yet again as has been the case in 2008, Ponting is getting scratched.
Ricky Ponting has been labeled a ‘tea pot’ for his inability to handle his younger bowlers better in crucial situations. Often Ponting has been found bereft of tactics even on the tour to India as the latter nailed the Border Gavaskar Trophy comprehensively.
Yet again, the critical opinion was that Ponting was not showing initiative to make things happen in the outfield and on the contrary, often found scratching his head clueless of how to stage a comeback in a situation that is increasingly getting out of hand.
But perhaps the most scathing view is that Ponting is doing little to assure his younger bowlers like Jason Krezja and Peter Siddle in the tough times and it has only caused more sense of insecurity within the team. It is not surprising given that Ponting was rather rigid in thought in India and refused to blood in the young spinner when all signs pointed in the direction.
