There would have been times in the match when Ricky Ponting must have thought that the Australian team had come up against a maestro who would shame them all.
The Australian captain was not allowed to rest easy after his team scored 350 and set a stiff challenge to India in the fifth ODI of the seven match India Australia ODI series. That was largely because of a certain man by the name of Sachin Tendulkar who dispatched everything that came his way rather handsomely.
Ponting could not but acknowledge the fact. Speaking of Sachin’s innings, Ponting stated that Sachin Tendulkar’s innings was “terrific” more so because it came under tremendous pressure.
But Ponting believes Australia deserved to lead the series 3-2 because Australia “did all the right things.” He was effusive in his praise of Shane Watson and Shaun Marsh, the former missing his century narrowly while the latter went onto make a great one, a match winning one as it turned out.
