Race for Australia's Twenty20 Captaincy Hots Up

Performances are not going unnoticed even as the race for Australia’s Twenty20 captain gathers momentum.
Now that Australia have wrapped up the ODI series in England with four straight wins in the first four matches, the three now will be of academic record, Australia have their mind on other matters.
Ricky Ponting is of the firm belief that having relinquished the Australian Twenty20 captaincy, Michael Clarke should succeed him in the role. Cricket Australia will not be taking a decision for a while but the campaigning appears to be coming in earnest.
However while Ponting’s endorsement may carry some weight, Brad Haddin also comes into contention as does Cameron White. White has done well for Australia, every time he has been called upon and he has been instrumental for Australia’s cause in the ODIs.
Given the fact that the roles demand sharp thinking on one’s feet and Michael Clarke’s failure to score runs in the shorter version of the game in recent months while being prolific in Tests, White’s case is strengthened by the fact that he has led the Australia A team as well as Victoria in four Twenty20 Big Bash tournaments in Australia. White’s latest salvage for Australia will at least give Pup a run for his money.
