Ravi Shastri Vents Ire on Indian Selectors
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Oct 2 2009

Former Indian cricketer and current commentator in the ICC Champions Trophy has lashed out at the BCCI selection panel over discrepancies that have seen team India draw out an early exit from the ICC fifty over tournament in South Africa.
Shastri claims that the BCCI selection panel headed by Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Shastri’s former dressing room team mate, has done little to add to the efforts of his predecessor, Dilip Vengsarkar.
According to Shastri, the selectors failed to pick a young squad to do the job and felt that the team needed an overhaul and a pool of twenty-five players who could be groomed in the lead up to the 2011 World Cup. While Shastri’s commentating partner of the famous Shaz and Waz, Wasim Akram, came down heavily on the Indian captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, for his lack of inspiration, Shastri is firm that the selection panel needs to be more proactive if India are to see results.
