Sachin Tendulkar was so ecstatic over the Indian performance in the last one year that he stated that this was the best batting line up for India. But was he really undermining those he played with before?
Tendulkar has found himself in another unusual controversy. If it were someone else, perhaps it could be called ignorance or over the top reaction. But with Tendulkar, his words are always measured like all of his innings.
If one were to put things in perspective, it would have to be said that Tendulkar was perhaps referring to the fact to the combination that was really working well for India, and not making a comparison to find the all time great Indian line up.
But the storm has evoked the expected reactions with the electronic media in particular, drawing reactions from former Indian cricketers of what they thought of his statement.
Sourav Ganguly, India’s former successful captain, also got into statement-making, stating that while the current Indian team is not the greatest, it is certainly the more consistent. No one can argue with it. But perhaps also one can say that that is exactly perhaps what Sachin was trying to say!
