
Former Pakistan off spinner, Saqlain Mushtaq, has a new assignment, that of becoming New Zealand’s spin consultant.
Mushtaq, who played for the English county team Surrey for over a decade, now takes up a job that involves orienting the Blackcaps’ game plan around spin.
Not only will Mushtaq being providing technical input including bowling the doosra to New Zealand captain, Daniel Vettori, and Jeetan Patel, but he will also be involved in teaching the New Zealand batsmen the art of facing spin as well.
New Zealand’s tour to Sri Lanka will be Mushtaq’s first stint in his role, the trial of which happened at the insistence of New Zealand coach Andy Moles during the ICC World Twenty20 in England.
