Michael Clarke is in no hurry to upstage current Australian captain although he was more than happy rolling Scotland over in his first game as captain on the current tour to England while also expressing interest in the forthcoming IPL 3 in 2010.
Clarke, current Australian vice captain, has brushed aside thoughts about the Australian captaincy, either divided or as sole captain. He credits Ricky Ponting as a great leader and believes the entire team is responsible for the wins as well as the painful losses such as the recent Ashes.
Clarke had no problems in his ODI match against Scotland as David Hussey scored his maiden ODI ton while raising Australia to a colossal innings total of 345 which was not matched even half way by Scotland. Adam Voges also made seventy-two runs, this despite Gordon Goudie picking up five wickets.
In response, only Gavin Hamilton, Scotland captain and opening batsman, top scored with thirty-eight runs in an otherwise paltry scorecard, made to appear more so by Shane Watson’s three wickets and an encouraging two wickets for Brett Lee on comeback.
But Scotland finished on 156, a win for Australia by a comfortable margin of 189 runs.
Meanwhile, Clarke is also nursing thoughts of participating in the IPL 3 after shying away from the IPL 2 auctions at the eleventh hour to get on the wrong side of Lalit Modi.
