Shiv Sena is unrepentant about attacking a media office in Mumbai, stating that they were defending their leader.
Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Raut, defended the hooligan behaviour of the political outfit, stating that they were fighting those who were criticising their leader over comments made about Sachin Tendulkar.
Stating that Bal Thackeray was misquoted about his comments in Marathi in Saamna, the Shiv Sena mouthpiece, Raut stated that attacking the leader was akin to attacking the Marathi Manoos.
But it was hard to read between the lines given that everything was pretty much black and white. Stating that Tendulkar may have been a great Maharashtrian but that he lacks the voice of the leader.
Sachin, for his part, has chosen to wisely stay off the turf on this verbal battle and perhaps the political parties would do well to take a leaf out of his book on how to make every Maharashtrian and every non-Maharashtrian resident of this proud state proud to be a part of it, not ashamed by vandalism by divisive forces.
Surely cricket stumps, hockey sticks and baseball bats can be put to better use.
