Shoaib, Lee Face Uncertain Futures
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Aug 8 2009

Shoaib Akhtar and Brett Lee, two fast bowlers who burst onto the scene almost simultaneously and threatened to smoulder the world are now smouldering themselves. So, will cricket see them in action again?
Shoaib Akhtar missed the ICC Twenty20 was particularly upset that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)revealed the real reason behind his being dropped. Although he insisted he was fit, the selectors, captain and team have not endorsed that view.

Now while the new selection panel is still keeping an open mind about him, it will be hard to see a less than fit Akhtar fit his way back into the Pakistan team, even if they appear to be suffering at the hands of Sri Lanka.
Brett Lee, on that other hand, is having to do all the talking himself. While he was touting to the whole world that he was fit, Australia made changes in the fourth Test of the Ashes at Headingley in that they included Stuart Clark but found no room for Lee. Cricket writer, Peter Roebuck, felt that Lee should take the “dignified” road and call his retirement.
Now it appears that the fire they put into their bowling must be now reignited if they are to make a comeback, a lasting one.
