Skipper Gayle's Series Down Under in Jeopardy After He Returns Home
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Nov 18 2009

Chris Gayle is going through a tough time. His captaincy has been questioned followed certain comments. The internal battles between the board and the players took their toll. And now when he has been named captain of the West Indies for the tour of Australia, he has flown back home to Jamaica.
West Indies suffered a setback ahead of their warm up against the Queensland Bulls as Chris Gayle was informed of his mother being hospitalized back home, necessitating him to fly back home.
Even as the seniors looked to take on more responsibility, Denesh Ramdin, all of twenty-four years, is set to captain the team going into the first Test against Australia. Gayle’s length of absence is not estimated at this time and it will mark a third captain for the West Indies in six months after Floyd Reifer was named captain for the ICC Champions Trophy 2009 as well as the home series against Bangladesh prior to it as the West Indies Cricket Board and the West Indies Players Association failed to see eye to eye on relevant issues.
