Australia are taking the incident of a spectator tackling a Pakistan cricketer seriously. However, the fine, feels the Australian captain, is not enough to deter another incident.
Ricky Ponting feels the fine of $500 is not enough and although the 37 year old offender has been banned from cricket matches in the future, there is still room for such unsavoury incidents, however rare.
Pakistan’s Khalid Latif was tackled from behind by David James Fraser at the WACA in what is quickly becoming the infamous fifth ODI between Pakistan and Australia.
Neither team was thrilled about the prospect of having drunken spectators invade the stadium, certainly not after watching the manner in which Latif was tackled.
