Srinath Says Illegal; Akram Says Pointless

Allan Donald has reopened a debate when he stated he wanted ball tampering legalized. Former Indian fast bowler and now match referee, Javagal Srinath, has a different take as does former Pakistan captain, Wasim Akram.
Srinath has called the move to legalize ball tampering illegal and against the laws of the game of cricket and that it should not come into play. One had to wonder where he was making the statement as a bowler or a match referee. Either way he is off the mark.

Akram has a more pointed view that is his own. According to him, the former South African fast bowler also known as “White Lightning” is not thinking straight because in Akram’s opinion, altering the condition of the ball will not aid reverse swing much because the ball needs to get old and worn out after being bowled on flat surfaces. He attributes Donald’s naive views to his inability to bowl reverse swing in his career. (Ouch! )
