N. Srinivasan, who occupies an important place in the BCCI, also happens to be one of the franchisee owners in the IPL with a stake in the Chennai Super Kings. While the negative reactions against foreign personnel is growing after John Buchanan virtually sidelined Sourav Ganguly, Srinivasan batted for the foreign presence in his team.
Srinivasan is not bothered about the growing cost of personnel even as the DLF IPL 2 moves to South Africa. On the contrary he emphasized that money was no constraint in securing the best possible staff for the team. Chennai Super Kings replaced last year’s coach Kepler Wessels with their player from last year, Stephen Fleming. Also in the support staff include, South African Gregory King as trainer, with the physio being Australian Tom Simsek.
Srinivasan stressed that the IPL was an all encompassing event where nationality was not a concern. He also expressed confidence that IPL would meet with the same warmth that it has in India.
