SRK V Gavaskar: Entertainment business v Sport?
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Apr 8 2009

In the face of Sunil Gavaskar’s criticism of John Buchanan and his tactics, Shah Rukh Khan launched a disrespectful retort against one of India’s cricketing legends.
Stung by Gavaskar’s remarks on Buchanan and how he was walking all over the gullible team franchisees, leading Bollywood actor SRK hit back at Gavaskar stating that Gavaskar played at a time completely different from now.
He was also brazen in that he stated that as team owner, Shah Rukh Khan had every right to hire whomsoever he chose and that if Gavaskar wanted things to run a certain way, perhaps he should enter the fray as a franchisee owner and bother about his own team.
SRk emphasized that he had a huge respect for Gavaskar but that all new theories must be given their time so must Buchanan’s multiple captain theory.
In one of the first signs of owners not even appreciating cricket comments about their team and sensitive about being told how they could be running their business, IPL is drawing boundaries alright.
