Stars will Descend on Chennai
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Jan 3 2009

Chennai cannot tear itself from the action - Test against South Africa, against Australia and against England. India may not be involved in an international tie at the moment. But that only means cheer as Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan are set to ignite the domestic extravaganza - the Ranji Trophy end games!
The Ranji Trophy semi finals get underway tomorrow and Chennai will play hosts to the game between Mumbai and Saurastra.
Sausrastra have risen largely due to Cheteshwar Pujara’s run making spree that has seen him making more than 800 runs in the Super League and stands a good chance of earning an international recall to team India should the need arise.
Pujara’s other team mate, Ravindra Jadeja, has also been a prominent figure with the duo’s 520 run partnership to go with Jadeja’s wicket taking abilities that put paid to Hyderabad’s efforts.
But the Wasim Jaffer-led Mumbai side will fight fire with fire. Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan have made themselves available for the encounter at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, or Chepauk as it was formerly known and are both expected to play in the crucial semi final tie where victory will take Mumbai one more step closer to their thirty-eight Ranji trophy final victory.
