As per the new England captain Andrew Strauss, dressing room rifts are not as bad or wide as made out by the media.
He is trying to be an open captain, ready to chat with the management as well as the players. He is in the process of interacting with the players and will continue to do so to sort out matters if any. As per him the main aim of both the players and the management is to win matches and this is the common goal of everyone, the thread which will unite everyone.
Strauss says there are some strong characters in the dressing room, who believe strongly in whatever they do or say and he needs such strong characters. Obviously being strong minded would mean that some others are pushed into a corner which happens in the dressing room but in England dressing room everyone has got on well.
The calm Strauss has his priorities right, he is very astute when he says that that things are not all hunky-dory. He expects everyone especially the aforesaid “strong characters” to make an effort so that the team moves in the right direction.
If reading between the lines means anything it seems that he is appealing to the strong characters to cooperate and help him make a strong team England. He sure has his work cut out before him and needs all the good wishes to do so.
