The smiles are back on the England captain and coach’s faces. The reason is the return of Kevin Pietersen for England’s tour to South Africa.
The thought of the aggressive England all rounder, not to mention former captain, Kevin Pietersen, to the England squad to bolster them for the tough series against the hosts has the England captain, Andrew Strauss, excited by the prospect.
KP has been battling an Achilles heel that resulted in a surgery immediately following the second Test of the Ashes and thereafter dealing with infection that delayed his comeback. In the mean time, England have had to cope through the Ashes and the ICC Champions Trophy 2009.
But while Flower is equally optimistic of England’s chances following KP’s returns, there are also cautious notes being sounded about KP not being rushed into the series because they would not want another injury slip again, especially with the big hearted Andrew Flintoff also missing in action.
Strauss believes KP’s character will add to England’s intensity and set up the series nicely for the visitors.
