Strauss Wants more ECB Stringency for IPL
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Jul 29 2009

The England captain is calling for ECB to take a stronger stand to ensure that the England team is representing by its fittest possible, full strength team.
Triggered by concerns over Andrew Flintoff’s injury that has led to his retirement and Kevin Pietersen’s Achilles heel that has put him out of the Ashes, Andrew Strauss is stating he will be working closely with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to ensure that England does not suffer premature retirement and injuries when they should be raring to go for England’s national duty.
That translates into stricter rules over lucrative IPL participation which has become a contentious issue, with the Indian coach, and former South African batsman, Gary Kirsten, encouraging India’s young cricketers to check their temptation and think about their commitment to team India.
