Symonds Let Off with Fine; Radio Show Hosts in His Defense
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Jan 29 2009

Andrew Symonds will not be missing out on another tour with another faux pas. But those defending him have a bizarre way of explaining his moves.
Andrew Symonds was let off by Cricket Australia with a A$4000 fine for calling Brendon McCullum a lump of s*** on a popular radio show HG and Roy.
But the host of the show, Greig Pickhaver also known as HG, believes that Australia and the rest of the cricket world have overreacted to Symonds and that too much was made of a light hearted on air conversation.
They have described the context of the comments as an attempt to “spice up the sport” and stating that even Shane Warne had done much for the game that way.
But while light hearted humour is appreciated, one cannot help but wonder what kind of service humiliating a fellow player can do for the gentleman’s game already in ruins over similar misconducts.
