The shocking decision to hand out four bans and three fines in the millions to the Pakistan cricketers has evoked a few astonished reactions, including that of the team manager.
Pakistan’s team manager for the tour of Australia, Abdul Raquib, has questioned the reasons for why Younis Khan has been given what is essentially a life ban.
Raquib felt Younis was being made a scapegoat, getting caught in the crossfire, “Younis has become a victim of conspiracy. Younis only played in the ODIs series during the Australia tour which is why I’m surprised on what basis a life ban has been imposed on him.”
Former national selector, Abdul Qadir, who had previously allegedly stated that match fixing was prevalent in the team as also a few maladies, called the decision to ban the cricketers as “brave.”
