The post match celebrations took an unusual turn with Sachin Tendulkar unintentionally perhaps courting controversy by mentioned the two sacked coaches in the role for bringing this team to be the best ever.
Tendulkar has often spoken in recent months of the belief in this team in particular and of their match winning abilities. Now that India have touched the no.1 mark in Tests, Tendulkar could not hold back his joy. But he was pragmatic as well.
Tendulkar mentioned that the seeds for this achievement was sown nearly two years ago in coordination with the Indian coach, Gary Kirsten, his associate, Paddy Upton and also, Robin Singh and Venkatesh Prasad, who were sacked before the Australia India ODI series as the fielding coach and bowling coach respectively.
Tendulkar has got into trouble in the past with an endless debate over which team of which era can be called the best, but by mentioning the sacked coaches, Tendulkar appeared to have hinted to the BCCI that the efforts of those who helped the team on course of this journey must not be forgotten and rightly so.
