Test Championship to Compete with T20 Instead of FTP?

That is precisely what the ICC is contemplating acknowledging that Test cricket needed the fillip with the increasing growing popularity of Twenty20 among the fans and with lucrative deals for the cricketers.
The ICC is thinking of doing away with the Future Tours Programme altogether when the preplanned schedule ends in 2012. That is on the agenda for the ICC, read David Morgan and Haroon Lorgat, currently in South Africa. With the idea of a Test championship being floated, the ICC feels perhaps it would be a more practical and lucrative way for Test cricket to continue alongside the Twenty20 leagues.

On touring Pakistan
The ICC is keeping a non committal view on Pakistan, stating that while terror had indeed had a say in which tours were being dictated, the fact that there are independent security consultants (such as Reg Dickason, hugely valued by teams from England and Australia) meant that each member nation was taking its own decision regarding the decision to tour Pakistan.
