The Twenty20 World Cup shows 'Lee' the way

The Twenty20 form of cricket has spread around the world, with all Test playing nations having played at least one game each. However the Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa is scheduled to take place on September 11, this year.

The game has introduced a lively form and is perhaps enjoyed, by spectators on the field and viewers on television. It has been very successful among cricket lovers. Though these matches have not gathered momentum in cricketing nations like India but surely will do so in the times to come.

The Twenty20 World Cup will probably figure all the teams that played in the recently concluded World Cup.

The Twenty20 matches are totally different from a one day games.The rules forbid, for any genuine planning. Often batsmen play rash shots and the bowlers, have time to bowl madly. Overll the performances in the recent Twenty20 matches of cricket nations like Australia, England, India, has been noteworthy.

AUSTRALIAN speedstar Brett-Lee having a record speed of 99 mph probably the fastest bowler in the world today is about to make his entry in the Twenty20 World Cup.

He had missed the Australian squad in the recent Cricket World Cup, following an ankle injury in Chappell-Hadlee series in February. Ausralia’s recent hat-trick win and dominance at the world cup has made them stand immortal.

Viewing their present form the Australian’s can be considered as strong contenders even in the Twenty20 World Cup, though Glenn McGrath’s and Shane Warne’s recent retirement from international cricket has indeed been a great setback for their bowling line-up. Moreover they will also be in a state of immense pressure to prove their worth in the Twenty20’s.

As every cricket lover knows that cricket is a game of uncertainties, up’s and down’s do occur for every team. It’s for the time to tell that which team will be in the driver’s seat in this year’s first Twenty20 World Cup.
