Did the Australians feel a vex coming on since joining the IPL? The Australian media certainly think so.
Call it belief in the wacky, but some of the Australian press believe that by succumbing to the lure of money, the Australians have traded their luck, health and success for more dire consequences.
Recalling the fact that Matthew Hayden is going through a wretched patch with the bat after coming back from an heel injury apparently inflicted during the IPL or of the fact that Brett Lee was struggling for pace and form, the newspaper believes that the trade off could be assumed to be a “pact with the devil.” Also included in the speculated list were Michael Hussey whose form seems to have deserted him and Andrew Symonds who tryst with cricket history in the last one week is neither favourable nor has been hidden from the knowledge of the public.
Amongst those that did not fall for the “cattle” sale, included Michael Clarke, Mitchell Johnson and Brad Haddin who have all individually done well for Australia in the Test series against South Africa with some even tipping Clarke to take over the captaincy sooner than expected.
The newspaper, the Sydney Morning Herald, described that the Australian players who were seen in IPL action were by large “injured, worn out or found themselves distracted by intoxication of India.”
