Trott Believes SA Chirps will Motivate Him
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Nov 3 2009

England’s latest batting sensation believes weathering the storm will instigate him to play even better in South Africa.
Jonathan Trott may not be in the same league as Kevin Pietersen to incur undue wrath from the South African crowds for the change in allegiance. But even England coach, Andy Flower, is asking Trott to toughen up against any possible provocation.
England’s tour to South Africa the last time round saw a tussle between South African crowds and KP who did not waste the opportunity to constantly display where his heart lay, kissing the emblem to emphasize the fact further. Not shying away from the public calls and from South African cricketers, including South African captain, Graeme Smith, about his being a “traitor”, KP actually kept responding and never let the controversy die down.
Now fearing a similar backlash for the South Africa born and educated Trott, the England team is trying to keep it cool.
But Trott himself is looking at it from another angle, or perhaps signalling that the partisan crowds had better keep their mouths shut. Trott said that the lack of chirping would mean that they did not think he amounted to much and that would actually bother him.
Trott is also of the view that the verbal banter will actually egg him on play more determined and score and show where his allegiance really lay.
Trott says, bring it on!
