Younis Khan, Pakistan’s cricket captain, has expressed disappointment over the Australian team selected to meet Pakistan in the UAE in the ODI series.
Younis Khan stated that he did not have much expectations from his own team when facing Australia in the ODI series but that he was hoping from some valuable lessons and insight from the Australian team.
Younis Khan stated his aims clearly. He wanted his team to rise to the occasion though the challenge ahead of them was great. But through the experience of playing against the Australians, Younis is hoping his team can pick up the ethics of playing the game hard, learning about being aggressive and positive and about standing tall in a difficult situation.
He however felt disappointed that the Australian selection panel had decided to rest three key players - captain Ricky Ponting, Mike Hussey and Mitchell Johnson. Younis Khan felt it was a great opportunity denied to him to face Ponting in a skipper-to-skipper role and learn from the experienced Australian. He also felt dejected that Johnson’s pace is something his team could learn to brace themselves against and from Mike Hussey, learn the art of
“stubborn” batting.
But Younis Khan was delighted at the inclusion of Brett Lee, Andrew Symonds and Shane Watson and stated that his team could still learn a lot from these tough Australian cricketers. Younis Khan is certainly hoping for the learning curve to rise and against what better opposition than Australia to do so.
