New Zealand’s shocking turn of events got even more shocking!
New Zealand captain, Daniel Vettori, will play the interim coach as well. But while it is something he is not shying away from, he also believes this is just a stop gap tactic from the New Zealand Cricket board before they can appoint one on a more permanent basis following the resignation of Andy Moles (seen in pic above with convenor of selectors, Glenn Turner) following player dissatisfaction.
While Vettori is mooting the idea of someone like former New Zealand captain, Stephen Fleming, stepping up the role - Fleming is now the coach of the Chennai Super Kings, New Zealand Cricket are keeping an eye on John Wright, who was previously India’s coach.
In a startling move though, New Zealand Cricket have decided to do away with the position of vice captain after all. What this basically means is that Brendon McCullum does not have the title anymore and while some are viewing this as a way to tone down the player support that has gathered momentum enough to revolt against the coach, it also means that New Zealand have decided to dump all the hats in Vettori’s lap (remember the selection rights as well?)!
