Here’s a different take. Shane Warne is with the England over what happened in the final few overs at Cardiff even as Ricky Ponting lashed out at Duncan Fletcher. What’s more? Nathan Hauritz agrees with Warne.
Ricky Ponting is like a sulky captain since that final session of the first Test at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. The mood has hardly changed at Lord’s given Australia’s struggles with both, bat and ball. However, not everyone believes the Australian captain should be sulking.
Ponting had lashed out at the former England coach for stating that Ponting should not be dictating the spirit of the game norms. Ponting called Fletcher a hypocrite for saying that he did not condone England for their alleged time wasting tactics.
But former Australian leg spinner, Shane Warne, does not believe that England broke any rules. They played within the rules of the game without necessarily breaking any laws, in his opinion. Ponting felt that the England phsyio and twelfth man had made unnecessary appearances on the field.
But the spinner in the Australian team, Nathan Hauritz, believes he would have done the same thing had Australians landed themselves in a similar position. Well, as it turns out Hauritz was at the crease when bad light stopped play on the second day at Lord’s declaring stumps with Australia in deep trouble. Wonder why the Australians accepted when the umpired offer bad light as valid reason?
