Warne Slams Australia’s Bowling Attack
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Jan 2 2009

Shane Warne has slammed Australian bowling for lack of inventiveness and has asked players to keep aside thoughts of self preservation.
Warne labeled the Australian pace attack as boring and sitting on their haunches, waiting for the South African batsmen to make mistakes. He said he would have liked to see more aggression on the lines of someone like Merv Hughes or even a Glenn McGrath especially when bowling to the lower order.
In light of Australia’s recent debacles, Warne has urged his former mates to forget about individual self preservation and do what it takes to salvage some pride.
Matthew Hayden has already stated he does not want to leave the game with Australia on a losing note.
Ponting was criticized for poor body language and the South Africans were quickly to rub it in that they had detected it very early in the series.
These are small factors that are making a huge factor and Ponting looked less enterprising holding the press conference announcing Doug Bollinger and Andrew MacDonald as debutants for the Sydney Test. Ponting stated that the team was looking to these players to inject new life into the proceedings. But one wonders what kind of pressure these men are already being put under and how they can not suffocate under this kind of pressure. This could be make or break time.
Glenn McGrath, conducting the McGrath Foundation after breast cancer caused him the loss of his wife mid way last year, though spoke of the huge opportunity for these young people to make their mark and that they should view this in a positive light.
