Was Ponting's Pitch Complaints Justified? Was Dhoni's Joke in Good Humour?

Ricky Ponting had serious complaints about Australia’s preparations at the Ferozeshah Kotla. But was Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s statement in good taste? Or does it reek India’s lack of professionalism?
The Australian captain was up in arms over the lack of coordination that failed to inform the pitch curator in Delhi that the Australian team would head for the practice nets early. Instead with the practice hitting a watery grave, Ponting was not amused that the team had to go without batting practise.
Perhaps it was the loss to the Indians in the second ODI combined with the input from Australian cricketers who participated in the Champions League Twenty20 about the rather deceptive nature of the pitch, Ponting was not willing to chance his injury prone team to take on the Indian in the third ODI without batting practice.
While Ponting could do no more than crib, the Indian captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, saw the funny side of it. He is attributed as saying that the loss of one practice day would not affect the form of the Australians.
Perhaps too much is being made by Ponting but in an international series, as hard fought as this is, neither team wants to slip up either in the nets or at the crease. While Dhoni’s words hold credit in that teams will have done a lot of preparation before that to let one missed session affect too much, but it also displays perhaps the lackadaisical attitude of the Indian cricket team that has sometimes conflicted with the views of professional foreign coaches who had to put up with the “chalta hai” attitude.
If great legends such as basketball giant, Michael Jordan, have spoken about the relevance of practise and training in the run up to a match, perhaps India need to dwell on their own psyche before seriously challenging the number one crown.
