In a tragic turn of events, Wasim Akram’s wife, Huma Wasim Akram, lost her life battling desperately in Chennai.
Huma Akram was admitted in critical condition at the Apollo Hospital while travelling via air ambulance from Lahore, Pakistan to Singapore for what was believed to be a surgery to remove three brain tumours.
With kidneys said to have failed, Huma was on ventilator as Akram thanked the overwhelming response and pleaded for prayers. Huma, a hypnotherapist, was also spoken highly of by Maqbool Max Babri, a psychologist who had worked with the Pakistan team and was a close friend of the family. Ravi Shastri and Kapil Dev had also inquired of Akram and his wife’s condition during his stay in Chennai but unfortunately the sad news broke this morning.
While her condition remained critical, there was prayer and hope against hope that Huma’s condition would take a turn for the better. But sadly, Huma passed away early on Sunday, leaving behind Akram and their two sons.
Condolence cannot be enough at this time for Akram who must, no doubt, be distraught.
