West Indian Marshall Joins Asif in Drug Net

It is apparently a malaise that is spreading. The latest in the shocking revelations surrounding drugs in the sport come from the West Indies as two of their players are now caught for a similar offence.
The Stanford Twenty20, the multimillion bonanza featuring the Standofrd Superstars and England, has thrown up its first controversy and it has nothing to do with the gargantuan amounts of money or the betting that it is likely to beget. Instead two of the players named in the provisional camp have tested positive for drugs although the name and type have not been disclosed.
While Xavier Marshall is a centrally contracted player with the WICB (West Indies Cricket Board), Tonito Willett plays for the Leeward islands. The reason for pulling out Marshall from the provisional squad has now become apparent. Also in the clear in the fact that they do not have a case to appeal given that apparently both tests conducted were confirmed positive.
This is a big blow for the cricket world and while the case on Asif and also his earlier case with Akhtar was dubiously resolved, there seems no easy solution to the problem as the lawyers are once again fighting for Asif claiming inconsistency in drug results as well as the unusual delay caused in the Asif case.
Swift, unforgiving action can only perhaps put an end to this growing menace.
