West Indies Stung by Loss, Comments

The West Indies lost to Bangladesh by fifty-two runs in the first ODI at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica. To add insult to injury, the West Indies players are fighting back against remarks made by former West Indian greats, Michael Holding and Clive Lloyd.
While former West Indies captain, Lloyd, alleged that the West Indies players, through the WIPA (West Indies Players Association), are constantly looking to enhance their “bank balance”, Holding, former West Indies fast bowler, has alleged that the WIPA was perhaps settling grouse with the WICB (West Indies Cricket Board).
The WIPA has taken strong opposition to their words and have stated that they have resisted the lure of the ICL even when the said players chose to associated themselves with the Kerry Packer series that also left the West Indies in a void and with a second string team.
Meanwhile the makeshift team lost embarrassingly to Bangladesh in the first ODI as Mohammad Ashraful, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah got into the run making mode even as Kemar Roach picked up five wickets. Abdur Razzaq ruined West Indies’ chase of 247 by picking four wickets and West Indies couldn’t help stumble despite Devon Smith’s sixty-five and small contributions from David Bernard and Darren Sammy.
