Who will lead England?

The England fans are now keen to watch the actions of their cricketers after David Beckham’s men gave their FIFA quarterfinals match to Portugal. However, cricket in England is passing thorough a bad phase. They want to get the answer of the question: Who will lead England in the home series against Pakistan?

Following the humiliating 5-0 defeat against the Sri Lanka in their home series, the issue of captaincy has once again dominated the mainstream. Mike Atherton last month said that Team England is losing Vaughan’s ruthlessness and criticized Andrew Flintoff’s lenient approach in the field as a captain. Because of which, England faced a defeat in the third test against Sri Lanka; the defeated undesirably leveled the series. Of course, injury sidelined Flintoff in the recent concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka. Andrew Strauss led the team in the ODI series and failed miserably. England’s performance was extremely poor throughout the series.

Barley a few days left for the selection of a Captain for the home series against Pakistan, England Cricket Board is in a dilemma to whom it should bestow the responsibility.

As of now, Michale Vaughan has not recovered from the persistant knee injury. Strauss is discarded. On Flintoff, there are contradictory views. While former England captain David Gower favors Flintoff, Atherton strongly criticizes. Meanwhile, Marcus Trescothick has joined the race after cracking a century in the last ODI.
