WI Bang T 2 Day 1: Bang KO WI Despite Dowlin
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Jul 18 2009

Travis Dowlin’s ninety-five could not prevent West Indies from toppling over. But what his innings did was restore some respectability back into the innings.
At lunch, West Indies were struggling at 107 for three and after rain interruptions, West Indies found themselves in more trouble, seven down for 160. However, Travis Dowlin and Ryan Austin put together a fighting partnership, the former adding momentum, the latter holding up the wickets column.
Eventually the resistance gave way, Austin dismissed for nineteen and Rowling perished within five runs of a Test century, trying to go for the final runs with no men to fall back on. What it did though was boost Bangladesh’s spin profile as captain Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah and Mashrafe Mortaza’s replacement, Enamul Haque Jr. picked up three wickets apiece as West Indies folded for 237.
In reply, Bangladesh lost Imrul Kayes for fourteen, Darren Sammy effecting the wicket, but hung on at thirty-five for one at stumps on the first day of the second Test at Grenada.
