Younis Khan Demands Leeway as Pakistan Thrash SL in Fourth ODI
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Aug 7 2009

Even as Younis Khan, the Pakistan captain, is demanding a greater autonomy for himself as well as indemnity, the Pakistan team were clearly on their way to thrashing the Sri Lankans, (finally!) in the fourth ODI at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Umar Akmal struck a fine century as Younis nearly matched him earlier in the day with eighty-nine even as the Pakistan captain demanded that every cricketer become accountable for himself as the captain was still limited in what the players actually did on the field.

Set a daunting target of 321, Sri Lanka caved in for 175 all out, this despite Upul Tharanga top scoring with eighty higher up the order, Iftikhar Anjum picking up a five wicket haul.

Younis Khan is also asking for greater leeway in deciding how to take the team forward. He cited the examples of Imran Khan who famously led Pakistan to the 1992World Cup victory in Australia as also the case of Inzamam Ul Haq who he stated enjoyed a degree of freedom under late Pakistan coach, Bob Woolmer.
Younis Khan is apparently fed of all the misgivings that have been attributed to the Pakistan team and is unwilling to take the flak for conspiracy theories out of his control.
