Pakistan cricket has once again been thrown into turmoil with Younis Khan reportedly refusing to play against either New Zealand or Australia and offering to step down from Pakistan’s captaincy.
Fingers were pointed at Younis Khan, the Pakistan captain, amongst others for Pakistan’s loss of the semi final match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2009 to New Zealand. Match fixing allegations surfaced with some even suggesting that Younis had dropped Grant Elliot’s catch on purpose.
However, Younis is not willing to take it lying down. With allegations that have emanated both, from and outside, Pakistan, Younis Khan offered his resignation in front the National Assembly that held a meeting to discuss the contentious issue.
While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to speak about the outcome of Younis’ offer, there could be more trouble in the days to come.
