Younis Khan: Pak Cricketers Don't Have to Fix Matches, Pak Win Match
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Aug 10 2009

Even as Pakistan won the fifth ODI in Sri Lanka by a heavy margin of 132 runs, the Pakistan skipper has come out in defense of his players regarding the match fixing fracas.
Younis Khan, the Pakistan captain, and Misbah ul Haq fashioned a win out of strong personal innings and partnership. In turn, Mohammaed Aamer and Rana Naved ul hassan turned it on for Pakistan with the ball with four wickets apiece to decimate the Sri Lankan line up.
However, the match fixing shadow continued to dominate the prevailing thought on Pakistan’s tour to Sri Lanka.
Younis Khan emphatically stated that cricketers in the future would think twice before reporting suspicious elements after Pakistan turned the spotlight on themselves by reporting to the Pakistan team manager, Yawar Saeed, of certain suspicious individuals in their hotel. However, now the Pakistan team is being scrutinized and they are not liking it.
Younis also stated that cricketers earn very well these days and therefore, with a Test match fee at about eight lakh rupees, there was fewer temptations for players to indulge in such malpractices.
